Day Thirty: Oh, that we could always see such spirit through the year!
Let me tell you something.
For my last day of NaBloPoMo, I was going to record myself playing the French horn, and then I was going to record myself playing the piano--accompanying the French horn, and then I was going to figure out how to put the two together, and holy smokes. You were going to want to make out with me.
But then time ran out and something in my eye exploded and today I took a $27 pill to fix my head, and then I spent the day with the kids at my folks' house, and wham! It's 8:00 at night! I really don't have time for anything!
So, you get this.
And of course, because I'm just another one of your insecure buddies, I can't watch this video without staring at my nose.
(They say the nose continues to grow throughout life, and I never believed them. Until now.)
(Someday I will invite my nose to play a stirring duet of Bless the Beasts and the Children.)
Do me a favor.
Watch the video with your eyes closed.
Because now I'm realizing that my hair looks like I took a two hour nap earlier this afternoon.
Because I took a two hour nap earlier this afternoon.
Also, the piano is way out of tune, and I don't claim to be a Pianist.
Have I covered all of my bases?
Anyway, all of this Woe is Me action when all I really want to say is: Thanks for sticking with me every day for the past 30 days. You're a gem. And so are you.

at 11/30/2007 8:28:24 PM- My eyes were open, but they were fixed on your fingers. I never managed to make both hands play together (I'm a violinist and a sopranno. We only know how to follow the melody). That is my absolute favorite song this time of year, I keep the soundtrack from Charlie Brown's Christmas at the top of all three of my holiday playlists. Thanks so much!

at 11/30/2007 8:29:13 PM- I'm so impressed, and when the music came on my daughter came out of bed and stared at you over my shoulder: "What are you doing?" "Watching my friend play piano." "Who IS she?" (note this was said with wonder and awe, not snarkiness). "That's Angie." "Where does she live?" (I told her the general vicinity). Then I bragged: "I used to work with her." "You did?? Wow!" So you are now quite the celebrity here and may even start getting requests from Miss E, and I get a little glory for one time being many cubes down the way from you.

Thanks, li'l buckaroo!

I am very impressed that anyone can play the piano that well, especially with an exploding eyeball.
Congratulations. :)

Jojo--It's Relpax (40mg). My doctor wrote a prescription for 10 pills, but my insurance company said that 10 is so silly. They gave me 4, charged me something like $18, and then bragged about saving me $97. Sadly, the Relpax hasn't helped very much.

at 12/2/2007 3:26:07 PM- Aw, the Relpax isn't helping? That sucks, it always worked for me. When this headache finally goes away...and it will and you start to feel a new one coming taking the Relpax right away. I must admit I am a little jealous of all your mad skills: piano, french horn, knitting, writing etc. etc. etc. But jealous in a good, I would so hang out with you, kinda way!

at 12/3/2007 3:04:08 PM- I couldn't see anything wrong with your nose or hair. Is there something wrong with me? Why do you look just fine to me? Or is it all a diabolical plot to distract us with the soothing music.
And hey! I have that Eiffel Tower lamp too!

at 12/3/2007 6:20:30 PM- Wow - I was watching Charlie Brown Christmas with the kids JUST AS I clicked on the video. That was cute! Though, either it's in a different key than the soundtrack itself, or you could use a piano tuning for Christmas! :)
