Let Yourself Go!

When you live in St. Louis and you're met with a day like this:

the best thing to do is go for a drive.

The kids were happy, the radio was playing all of the right songs, and many of the clouds looked just like Don King. Perfect Day.

And then I saw this:

Emo Philips is still performing. At a casino. And I don't know why, but that makes me sort of sad.

Again, I don't know why. (Incidentally, Rita Coolidge will also be performing at that same casino in late March. Oh, Rita.)

Do you think Emo's still doing this sort of stuff? Because 25 years have passed.

If you ever want to see me have an anxiety attack, here are your instructions:

1. Put me in a tiny room with Emo Philips, Carrot Top, and someone wearing a spooky mascot uniform. Also, Willie Aames. And let's throw Bob Zany in, too.

2. Make me eat a fish dish in which the fish in question still has his eyeballs, and the only available vinegar is in a tiny bottle (without a lid) tucked into Willie's underpants.

3. Tell me I have to make out with either the fish, Emo, Carrot, Willie, or the mascot.

4. When I'm done making out, force me into an itchy turtleneck sweater.

5. Ask me to give you a foot rub.

just reading "itchy turtleneck sweater" I've come undun. I might as well go home now, I'm good for nothing else today but imagined discomfort.

Especially if Mr. Aames is wearing his Bibleman outfit and preaching.

Your husband's list of 'Things not to foist upon the woman' must be endlessly entertaining.

The name Bob Zany, combined with his grim expression, is quite disturbing.

    And, I tagged you ... http://cheaplikeme.wordpress.com/2008/02/11/tagged-and-double-tagged/

    Lordy, you have issues.

I like that in a person.

Five steps to an anxiety attack? You had me at Carrot Top.

...and if you'd listed a room in which I might encounter either Tom Cruise or Renee Zellweger, you'd have me hello there too.

The sense of discomfort increased exponentially with every line---I have to go shower again. And again.

(Foot-touching is kind of the last straw with me.)

I will never be able to knit this pattern the same way again, as each time I see the title I'll be forever reminded of itchy turtlenecks and fish with vinegar. (sigh)

(is his collar too tight? why else would his finger be in his shirt like that? is that a pen'on'a'string around his neck?)

I greatly fear that within the next five years, both Emo Philips and Carrot Top will be hosting game shows on prime-time network TV. I mean, look at the trend we have going there. Egads.

Hey, I could probably get you tickets if you wanted. I've got connections. (wink, wink) Ack! That'll be one employee discounted ticket that I won't be redeeming. Unless of course, you want them. :-)

Kristen--You're right! And I LOVE that pattern. But now it feels cheap and unfunny.

Susan--I think I would rather take a bath in goat vomit. But I *DO* appreciate the offer!

I always feel so, so sad when I see those big signs advertising has been stars performing at casinos. I picture people slumped at video slots barely able to glance away to watch the show. Let's cry now.
