I'm going to sit down and write a long letter to Neil Young, too.

The April NaBloPoMo theme is Letters. And I think I'll jump on board for it, because my April is filled with all sorts of letter writing possibilities.

April 1 is the birthday of my dead dog Thumper. He had a stroke and bit off his tongue! I really should write him a letter, don't you think?

April 9 is my former boss and good friend's birthday, and also the day I'm taking a class on mitered knitting. I'll be making one of these!

April 19? Passover. The perfect day for writing a letter in celebration of The Fiddler on the Roof. Dear Topol, Stay clear of Lazar Wolf! The butcher is trouble!

April 21? Science Fiction Twin's birthday!

April 25? Anzac Day, of course! Rolled oats! Coconut! Syrup! Dear Australia and New Zealand, Thanks for the anzac recipe! (And for the Gallipoli thing, I suppose.)

April 28? Harper's birthday.

April 29? Meredith's birthday.

Seven days on which letters practically write themselves, no?
If I can come up with 23 more occasions, we're solid.
Feel free to make recommendations.
Hell, if I find myself stirred and tormented, I might put pen to face for you.

I have two more for you! My husband's birthday is April 27. And my daughter's birthday is April 24. Hans Christian Andersen was born April 2. Writer Samuel Beckett was born on April 13. The Civil Rights Act of 1968 was signed into being on April 11. On April 30 in 1803, the US purchase the Louisiana Territory from France for $15M.

Do you want me to find more?

Can we have a Rattlesnake Bit the Baby day? My four year old watches your YouTube video over and over and OVER again. Then she wants me to sing the song to her and she plays Harper. She mimics Harper's little "no" and then her giggle. Dead on impersonation. And if I don't do that little pause you do at the end, she gets upset with me. Maybe I should video that and then put it on my vlog page just for you.

I'm going to try my hand at the letter writing month too. I may use some artistic license though since I can't think of 30 letters to write either.

You could always write me an advice letter about having kids with close birthdays and how nice it is to have 2 kids instead of 1.

April 22 is Earth Day! I only know this because it's my brother's birthday and people have pointed it out to him over the past 19 years.

If you write me a letter, please tell me to stop eating the Almond Roca already. The Roca would appreciate your intervention, I'm sure.

Jaynee--I think France deserves a letter!

Mutha--If I hear anything about a rattlesnake biting a baby during the month of April, I'll slap the video back up!

Nomimimom--Wait a second. You're giving BIRTH in April. At least take that day off!

Meghan--April 22 was my original due date for Meredith! I was sort of glad she didn't emerge on Earth Day. Think of the recycling pressure!

Nichole--If I write you a letter, I'll simply ask you to send some of the Almond Roca my way. I have been known to eat an entire can in one sitting.

Well, you know, April IS International Guitar Month. And I DO own a guitar named Ramón, who is of International Descent.

Angela, all I'm saying is, you might want to write a letter to Ramón.

(Tell him to be nice to me. Then you and I can play a piano/guitar or French horn/guitar duet.)

Yay! I'm looking forward to the letters theme, as I did horribly with the lists. ( A good venting tool: I imagine a month's worth of letters to my landlord asking why my sink still isn't working.)

I share a birthday with Harper, so maybe you could write us a joint birthday letter?

    April 24 is my wife's b-day.

April 25 is Liberation Day in Italy. (Which oddly enough is the way I remember that it's my wife's b-day)

To heck with those folks down under (who I understand really are quite nice, so I probabaly shouldn't diss them. Oh well.)

    Viva l'Italia!

And April 24 my oldest son turns 14, heaven help me.

oh! oh! The 27th is my birthday! Not that you really care, but thought I would throw that in there. (I will be 38 and my favorite flower is the gerber daisy. You know, just in case).

    April 15, tax day.

April 30, The Farmer Takes a Wife reality show appears. I wouldn't normally note that as significant, but the house used is the house my mother-in-law was born in and the square dance caller is a fellow knitter.

I would be in favor of pen/face letters. My husband and I watched your Easter video and I said "I'm having coffee with her soon" and he said "Knitter."

I always felt sorry for Lazar Wolf. Seemed like a nice enough guy. Too bad about that freaky Frumasarah ghost, though.

So was it the bitten tongue that killed Thumper? That's so sad. I bet he'd appreciate a letter.

    there's an anzac day? score!

Whoorl--If I *do* write a letter to Ramón, I have a funny feeling I'm going to invite him to make out with me. You know, because he's Ramón.

Kathy--Hell, I'd be tempted to mail those letters to the landlord.

Jen--How funny would that be? Dear Harper, you are really into The Wiggles. Dear Jen, you are really into Vampire Weekend.

Jon Deal--Your wife and your son share a birthday? What are the odds?! (That was rhetorical, although I am sort of interested because I doubt they are 1:365.)

Aimee--We were born within three weeks of each other!

Rachel--Perhaps I should do pen to face letters for every day of the month. I need to check my eyeliner supply.

Lunasea--The Frumasarah ghost freaks me out. That dream scene never fails to deliver the shivers.

Michelle--I know! Who knew?! (Besides the citizens of New Zealand and Australia, of course.)

April 8 is my dad's birthday and should be around the time he and my mom are getting an ill-advised puppy. They could all probably use a letter.

    April 12th, I'll be 35.

But I had more to say!

We also have considered re-making Rattlesnake Bites the Baby, except we thought we'd be the only ones. But no, apparently there's a whole RBTB fan club.

Doesn't that scarf require like 87,000 colors of kid silk haze? I don't envy you the expense or the process of knitting with KSH, but it's going to be a wonderful scarf.

    oops. Typo.

Oldest son's b-day is April 28. (I really do know that, just a simple typo)

April 3 is my birthday and my mother tells me that my Aunt Agnes, upon my entrance to the world, suggested that I be called "Esther" because it was so close to Easter. If you'd like to write to my dead Aunt Agnes about how that would have sucked the big one/been the best thing that could have happened to me then I'd much appreciate.

Bec--If he names the dog Thumper (after my dead dog), I'll write him a Thank You note. If not, all I can do is send him a manual with an Are You Sure About This? sticker on the front!

Meira--So many April birthdays! AND, my LYS is putting together kits with the exact amount of yarn needed for the scarf. SO, instead of spending something like eighty thousand dollars, I'm paying $55.

Jon--You really have no idea when your kid was born, do you?

Mocha--Another April birthday! And what was Agnes thinking? Other than, "Hhhmmmm. If I have to live my life as Agnes, someone sure as hell better suffer as Esther!" (I actually sort of like Esther.)

OK, you caught me. Though now I'll have something to remember his b-day by!

    It's Harper's b-day, too!

I think I'll tell him that tonight, "Lucas, from now on, I'll *never* forget your b-day, It's the same as a little kid I've never met, who lives in Missouri!"

    He'll be so excited. :-]

One *more* reason we are saving for therapy, instead of saving for college.

4/1 - my sister and b-i-l's wedding anniversary. No 'fool' jokes need be articulated; we all just keep thinkin' 'em.

4/3 - my sister Jennifer's daughter Addie's (likely) 5th birthday (Addie was found as a newborn in a box in a market, so we're not exactly sure...)

    4/4 - My dad's 74th birthday - woohoo, Senor Frog's, here we come!! ahem

4/14 - the annual International Celebration of Tolerance, otherwise known as my wedding anniversary (to an ornery Brit) -- go Big 18

april 24th or 28th - jon deal's son, lucas', unknown birthday, to be determined by the day that cake shows up at his house. except his wife's birthday is on the 24th, so he may get confused. again. ;)
