Fluid Pudding drove to the city and met Bossy!

A few weeks back, I received an e-mail from Mocha telling me that Bossy's Excellent Road Trip was making a stop in St. Louis, and that a bunch of her readers were going to get together for drinks.

I immediately started feeling my heart beat in my throat. (Seriously. Why am I like this?)

So, anyway. Last night I threw on a skirt (!!) shuffled Buckley (that's code for: loaded the iPod into the car, obviously) and drove myself to Bailey's Chocolate Bar.

(Wait. Have I ever told you about my recurring nightmare in which I'm driving to the city by myself and suddenly none of the bridges or overpasses have any type of railing and all cars are driving at 80mph and I have no idea where I'm going and every other driver on the road seems to be upset with me for some reason? Luckily, none of that happened last night. Thanks, MapQuest!)

When I arrived at the bar, the first person I saw was Bossy.

And she is lovely. (And not blurry, despite the quality of this photo. For someone who has been traveling for four weeks, she is surprisingly lucid!)
AND contrary to popular belief, she does not speak in third person.
AND! Her Real World first and middle names both showcase the J sound in the middle, and I can't even describe how much I love that.

I immediately ordered my first drink. Lindeman's Framboise. Desserty! Raspberryey!

So many amazing women had gathered for this celebration.
I met MP from My Second Journal, Bri from Under the Arch, Heather from Three Boys and Me, L from Tempered Woman and her very witty sister,  Sonrie from 1017, and Raquita from WOBL in Training. (I hope I'm not forgetting anyone. I know Jenny arrived right before I left, and I didn't get a chance to make note of her website.)

After a few moments, Mocha and her Incredible Offspring arrived. And as you know, Mocha has that Thing where the room lights up when she enters. Amazing.

And soon it was time for another drink. Sonrie seemed to be enjoying her Black and Red--which was a fantastic combination of chocolate stout and framboise--so I decided to treat myself to one as well.

And it was divine.
And it made my head tingle.
And suddenly I reached Comfort Level: Green with everyone in the room, and I began to puke out information that I typically keep in my head.

Me: Blah, blah, blah, BlogHer '06, and breast pumping in my hotel room... Leonardo DiCaprio! Crying! Pumping! (Drinking!) And hey! This milk smells like Anchor Steam! I wonder if it TASTES like Anchor Steam! Let's try it (glug, glug, glug)... And it doesn't. TITANIC!

Obviously, I blame my complete lack of decorum on the alcohol.

(Side note: NOW I know why I woke up this morning with one long eyebrow stretching across my nose!)

Sadly, 8:00 came too early, and I had to bolt.
But I'm so glad I had this night out.
And I wish Bossy blue skies as she heads toward her final road trip destinations.

Just a longtime reader delurking (Found you via my sis-in-law's blog over here) after realizing I'll be in the St. Louis area next month and that's where you are as well.

Drop me a line if you're interested in tix to the Renaissance Faire (about half an hour outside the city to the east). I'll be one of the ones doing the really dangerous skill acts. What can I say? It's a living.

Cheers and I look forward to your posts very much!

    C*

BOSSY had to skip SLC. Scheduling, etc.

    *sigh*

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride.

    Wait. I'm a GUY.

    Stout + anything = A-OK.

There's an outside chance that Bossy may have the cutest nose on the planet. I'm still looking and the verdict is still out, but let's just say that her nose is in the running.

    Yeah..I found you!!
Lindeman's Framboise was the DRINK of the table after you left...even after desserts and coffee I think we had a round of 8 of these!! We all went home by 10pm...it was just TOO much fun!! I wish we had a round table though so we could all hear all the conversations..you know? I can't wait to see the group picture that Georgia took!

Oh, just looking at the glass of Black and Red makes me want another one. In a good way, of course. It was lovely meeting you and everyone else yesterday -- so glad I came!!

The night went by too quickly. It was great to meet everyone. I didn't have any of that Lindeman's drink - I'm a lightweight so was drinking water by then. I'll have to try it next time.

Charon--Thanks for dropping by! AND, I was just talking to a friend of mine about taking the kids to the Renaissance Fair. Maybe we'll see you there!

    Blackbird--I know! DAMNIT!!!

Jon Deal--BUT, you're a guy with Feelings, so it's okay to wear a bridesmaid gown.

Sir--Stout + vanilla ice cream = The Greatest. And I'm with you on Bossy's nose. (Taken out of context, I totally love that sentence.)

MP--Man! I'm sorry I missed Round Two of the Framboise! (Incidentally, I was drinking Framboise when I first realized that I wanted to marry Jeff.)

Sonrie--It WAS fun. And I would like another, too.

Heather--It *did* go by too quickly. I was amazed to look at my phone and see that it was already 8:00. So fun.

What a fun outing! Jen is glad to hear Bossy doesn't speak in the third person IRL. Jen had wondered about that.

now you have my info. had i not been pregnant i would have had a framboise and a black and red too. yum. yum. just an excuse to go back after august 19, i suppose.

and i missed the talk of drinking breast milk. i tried mine and i agree that it definitely doesn't taste like anchor steam. i let my girls try it when i had the boy and they called it sugar milk. i'll stick to regular milk, i think.

great to have met you, although we only passed one another for a few moments. maybe next time we'll chat more.

Look at me~ my second comment on your blog! heh.
Loved loved loved getting to meet everybody and am thinking we need to arrange another night, preferably when there are no cat issues, so I can try the Black & Red. I'm totally craving one right now. Damn!
Hope the cat is doing well and can't wait to see Bossy's write-up. Ya know. If she does one.

Sounds like it was a blast. Was hoping to make it (had no idea who would be there) but the family gathering beforehand took a bit long. But the drinks look yummy and sounds like the conversation was lively!

Wise woman that you are, you had the very raspberryey drink first. I tried to order the chocolately, raspberryey BEER and he brought me the Lindeman's instead and I sucked it down like Kool Aid.

While that was a divine moment it could never live up to the moment of sniffing your hair after posing for pictures. I shall think fondly of your hair while I reminisce the Breast Milk Drinking Stories.

So glad to have spent time with you! You are scrumptious and I need another fix. Soon!

    xoxo

Sounds like so much fun. And what good are a few drinks with new friends if you can't share secrets?

I am so wretchedly jealous. Stupid rabbits and their stupid emergency ailments. I hate that I missed Bossy--and a chance to get to know STL bloggers for once! Grr.

I'm glad you had a lovely time and that no railings fell off of any bridges right when people were conveniently speeding at you head-on in a big game of chicken. I hate it when that happens.

Mocha and Bossy together in a room with achohol? Having been with them separately the thought of them together truly boggles the mind.
