Next year we’re going to fill the back of the car with fake dead people.

Tonight was Trunk or Treat at the girls’ school. To prepare, we signed up for a parking spot (#29! Because you’re only as old as you feel!), I hemmed Harper’s Sleeping Beauty dress, I purchased treats for 200 kids, I cleaned out the back of the car, and I carved a pumpkin. (I’m proud of my pumpkin. Full disclosure: Yes. I used a pattern.)

Pumpkin!

Because our neighbors are not very enthusiastic about Halloween, this is pretty much it for the girls. And they were a tiny bit excited.

Sleeping Beauty and the Dancing Diva

Harper, as I mentioned earlier, is Sleeping Beauty. Meredith? Meredith is a Barbie Dancing Diva. Yes she is.

Sadly, I had No Idea how seriously some people are about Trunk or Treat.

Notes for next year:

  • Bring more candy. (We left with three Tootsie Roll Pops to spare. That was a close one.)
  • Make a Spooky Song CD (although Jeff’s last minute Tom Waits iPod blast was quite impressive).
  • Hang streamers and/or garbage bags in the car.
  • Bring a live camel.
  • Floss.

  1. If we had something as convenient as Trunk or Treat in MY DAY (here is where I act like I’m way older than 27, which, let’s admit it, no matter how much I talk about how old I’m getting, is really not that old, and most people want to smack me when I say something like that), maybe I wouldn’t hate Halloween SO! MUCH!

  2. A Barbie Diva, huh? Well, that’s something. In fact, I don’t know why MORE kids don’t go as a diva. I think I’ll go as a diva this year! I could wear stripped tights, too!

The Trunk or Treat sounds really awesome. I’d love to hang stuff from my car and not just the empty paper bags from all the fast foot I eat in it.

    Happy Trunk or Treat!

  3. The girls look great! Your pumpkin is awesome – pattern or not I would have lost a phalange trying to make something like that! We did trunk or treat too this year. Is this the new fad? I had never heard of it before.

  4. HELLO AGAIN MS FLUID….LOVE YOUR STUFF…BUT I DO NOT KNOW WHY WHEN I MAKE A COMMENT IT COMES UP AS MY VERY GOOD FRIEND ISABELLA GOLIGHTY…SHE’S LOVELY…ANYHOO I’LL WORK IT OUT (OR SHE WILL)…BESTEST, KAZZ, PRETTYDOG VINEYARD, OZ ,XOXOX

  5. Were you blinded by all the pink? I think I would be swallowing my tongue in an effort to not suggest a less pink costume. Because, whatever they want to be is good, right? That being said, you have some very beautiful glammed up girls over there.

My boys (nearly four) will be pirates this year. I am driving to one end of town to trick-or-treat at the in-laws (and maybe a neighbor or two), and then to the other end of town to trick-or-treat at my parents’ house (again with the neighbors, depending). That’s it. That’s my plan.

Halloween is not exactly my favorite. Hopefully I can keep my boys from figuring that out for at least five more years.

  6. I’ve never heard of “Trunk” or Treat before but it’s a great idea! And I love your jack-o-lantern! I still have to get a pumpkin and carve it before Saturday and i think I need to up our candy supply as well–all we have are caramels and lollipops…
